Plagiarism and Similarity Check Before Submission
Guidelines for authors submitting to SOJALLE
Before submitting a manuscript to SOJALLE, authors are required to check the similarity index of their work using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin.
- Recommended tool: Turnitin (or other reliable plagiarism checkers).
- Similarity threshold: We only accept manuscripts with a maximum similarity index of 20%.
- What is assessed: The similarity index typically includes quotations, text overlaps with online sources, and potential duplication with other documents.
- If above 20%: Authors must revise the manuscript to reduce similarity (e.g., paraphrasing, proper citation, or removing overlapping content) before resubmitting.
- Important note: The similarity percentage alone does not determine plagiarism — editors will also assess context, citations, and proper academic use of sources.
Authors are encouraged to keep a copy of the Turnitin report (e.g., screenshot or PDF) in case it is requested by the editorial team.
